The Bad Side of Eating Irregularities

Eating disorders have been considered an alternative method of pushing yourself to stay thin, a fact most people fail to understand. Anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa have been linked to depression and schizophrenia in terms of being mental illnesses. Anorexia nervosa has been defined as an obsessive fear of gaining weight resulting to an extremely low body weight and distorted body figure while bulimia nervosa is the contrary of anorexia; simply defined as over eating followed by compensatory behavior. Bulimia is the more obvious eating irregularities as the person eats a lot then suddenly stops eating resulting to a sudden change of eating patterns drastically affecting the digestive system. It is commonly known as fasting. Both eating disorders are dictated by the mind's decision to control eating habits. Apart from the bad mental condition it can cause, it leaves lasting bad effects to the body.

It all started with an extreme diet plan for a person to suffer eating disorders. The sense of control may be addictive to a person starting to rapidly crash diet. It can be related to the overall control of a person's life, for instance, someone going through a difficult stage in life is most likely to divert his or her attention to changing eating patterns. Though the conscious mind tells the body the reasons behind the negative side effects of eating disorder, a person's subconscious state will react otherwise hence forcing the person completely aware of its effects to decide to take the route of eating reduction.

Anorexia differs from bulimia in terms of the process of food intake reduction and nutrient absorption. Anorexia involves a total restriction of food limiting the intake on a regular basis. Laxatives are most commonly used by people who are experiencing anorexia to really serve their purpose of crash diet so that they can prevent themselves from actually eating regularly. Thus, over exercising is the course taken by most anorexics; that alone increases the rate of calorie burning.

While with bulimia, a person follows a normal eating pattern however, the amount of food taken is much more than a regular person would and that purging is done after each meal. Bulimia involves a sense of pride as it makes a person feel guilty of eating fatty food. To compensate for this thought, bulimics consider their eating habit normal as they are able to taste the food but not totally digest it.

In addition to particular mental side effects that go along with anorexia and bulimia, we can't set aside the obvious health concerns that may follow resulting from such eating disorder. Primarily, the person limits the energy that will be consumed by the body as the nutrient intake is reduced. That in effect, results to difficulties in maintaining an acceptable body temperature. As the body regulates temperature, a sporadic activity of blood pressure occurs that may result to a cardiac arrest. Apart from these conditions of body temperature and blood pressure, digestive organs are also being damaged. Anorexics can experience severe stomach ache due to the natural tendency of the stomach lining to consume itself in the absence of actual food. Thus, due to nutrient insufficiency, the strength of the bone can b compromised. All of these bad health effects may lead to seizure or even fatality.

Before taking the route of crash diet plan, seeking medical attention will surely help someone who wants to lose weight. In addition, there are a lot of natural and organic medicines that can help in reducing excessive fat without compromising health. As mentioned earlier, the negative side effects can be prevented by conditioning the mind to choose a risk free course of reducing weight. All that needs to be done is a wise decision making. It's your health at risk after all.
