Choose foods that are high in protein but lower in fat and carbohydrates. This will help to decrease the amount of overall calories you consume while still allowing you to feel satiated and full. In addition, replace sugary sweets and desserts with fruits and whole wheat grains to increase your fiber intake and lower the insulin spikes associated with consumption of simple sugars.
